    惠民县畜牧业历史悠久。据境内大商遗址、大郭遗址出土文物表明，商代以前已
饲养家畜。随着畜牧业的不断发展，饲养家畜家禽成为农家经济的1个重要组成部分。
19 49年前， 常因战乱及农业受灾，畜禽数量下降，中华人民共和国建立后，历经了
一个高-低-高的曲折发展过程。 1985年比1949年大牲畜增长13.3％，猪增长3.3倍，
羊增长10.9倍，家禽增长1.4倍。
