    莒县种植业以粮食作物为主，经济作物次之。民国初年，粮田占耕地95%左右，1935年占86%，其比例直到建国前无大变化。新中国成立后，经济作物增加，粮田面积减少。1976年后，大面积引种黄烟，与花生、棉花成为莒县三大经济作物，其变化见下表:
