       2004年6月，设立威海市质量技术监督局经区分局，为威海市质量技术监督局的派出机构，县级建制，内设综合科、业务科和稽查科。2005年1月22日，威海市质量技术监督局经区分局挂牌开展工作，主要负责区内标准化、计量、质量、特种设备监察等监督管理和行政执法工作，查处制造伪劣产品的违法行为。此前，经区质量技术监督工作由威海市质量技术监督局管理。
