    境内象棋源起失考，爱好者众多。50年代，不论春夏秋冬，屋内屋外，常有棋
阵对垒和观者驻足。进入80年代，春节期间，各行各业组织体育比赛活动必有象棋
项目。 1984年，县老干部局举行首次全县老干部象棋比赛。1985～1990年，总工会
每年举行一次全市（县）职工象棋比赛。其中1990年的比赛规模最大，参赛选手80
多人。
    市内还盛行军棋、跳棋、围棋、康乐棋和“土棋”等。土棋又称地头棋。下棋时，
只须在地上划一个棋盘，随手找一些石块或草棒作棋子即可对弈，为广大农民所喜
爱。种类有“搁五福”、“走田字”、“狼吃羊”等。
