    1977年7月， 县计划委员会内始配备专人分管环境保护工作。1979年，县革委
设环境保护办公室。1981年8月，改设环境保护局。1984年3月，环保局改为科，并
入城乡建设环境保护委员会。1986年11月分立环保局。1989年，文登市环境保护委
员会成立，分管环保工作的副市长兼主任，环保局、计划委、建委和经委主要负责
人任副主任，办公室设在环保局。1990年底，文登市环境保护局共33人，其中正副
局长3人，内设办公室、管理科两个行政单位和监测站、收费监理站、宣传站等3个
事业单位。1988年，山东省环境保护委员会授予该局“先进环保局”称号。
