 5年间，湖屯镇经济发展取得显著成绩。到2007年底，全镇完成生产总值33.4亿元，是2003年的3.22倍，年均增长34%。财政收入4200万元，是2002年的4.95倍，同比年均增长38%；工商税收达到1515万元，是2002年的5.85倍，同比年均增长42%。财政均衡入库，收支平衡，保证了重点项目建设，工资增长发放，机关运转和社会事业等开支。2007年，农民人均纯收入6219元，年均增长19%，群众生活质量不断改善。5年中，湖屯镇连续被肥城市评为经济工作先进乡镇。被泰安市委、市政府授予2007年度全市经济工作先进乡镇。
