    边院镇党委、政府把发展畜牧业生产当作实现增收致富的重要产业来抓，鼓
励扶持农民大力发展以养鸡为重点的畜牧业生产。 先后建起7个养殖专业村，17
个饲养小区， 4个规模养鸡厂，2个规模养牛厂，养鸡专业户660户，牛、猪、羊
饲养大户280多户。 大武村建起了集孵化、饲料加工、防疫等为一体的综合厂。
年加工饲料2000多吨， 孵化雏鸡120多万只，成为全镇养鸡龙头村。全镇建起了
前黄清真冷藏厂等6个畜牧龙头企业，形成年宰杀加工牲畜5万头、畜禽1000万只，
生产饲料2. 5万吨的规模。1997年，全镇鸡存栏量250万只.大牲畜9680头，生猪
4万头，羊10.7万只，生产禽蛋1. 98万吨，肉类9758吨，畜牧业总产值2. 5亿元。
夺得泰安市畜牧生产冠军。
