    文昌阁位于牛山南河湾右侧一高石岗上，建于宋代。阁墙呈八角形，顶部无檩梁，全部用石灰砌
砖而成，为历代文人崇拜之地。宋真宗东封泰山，途经牛山，赐名郁葱山后，文昌阁更负胜名。
    1958年，在文昌阁后修建水库1座，库内碧波荡漾，库边杨柳轻扬，现为牛山森林公园一佳景。
