    清代，境内大家庭较多，有些户“三世同堂”、“四世同堂”，个别的“五世同堂”。1771年，境内38631户，每户平均7.2人。1840年后，户均人口逐渐由多至少。1908年，境内59820户，每户平均5.8人。民国时期，小家庭增多。1932年境内75914户，每户平均5.4人。建国后，家庭渐小。1949年，全县75494户，每户平均4.8人；1957年，全县83329户，每户平均4.9人；1964年，全县91215户，每户平均4.7人；1985年，全县113063户，每户平均4.6人。
