    明朝，在县城西南青川村设马驿站，始称青川马驿，养马15匹。1466年（明·成化二年），青川驿站迁至堽城坝村，又称堽城马驿。驿道南自兖州新家驿入境，北过汶河出境。清末，境内沿驿道设递铺5处：县城设总铺，城南设泗庄铺，城北依次设石桥铺、伏山铺、堽城坝铺，铺间距离为5公里。共备马30匹、驴2头，有马夫16名、司兵18名、白夫34名。各递铺驰马依次交接往来信物。遇有紧急公务，日夜兼程加急传递。1906年（清·光绪三十二年）废驿制。
