    邹城市饲养的鸽主要是信鸽和肉食鸽。信鸽的饲养比较简便，多是采用传统的放飞方式让鸽到野外自由采食。至1992年底，全市存养信鸽4500余只。
    肉食鸽的饲养多为零星户养户繁，户饲养，数量为八只、十只、几十只不等。80年代，邹县开始出现饲养肉食鸽专业户。至1992年，全市存养肉食鸽在1万只以上。
