    1978年，济宁地区二轻局投资兴建泗水县塑料厂，1979年9月投产，设吹塑、制袋、塑料制品、机修等车间，主要设备有吹塑机、注塑机、印刷机、摇臂钻、普通车床、镗床等。产品有工业用膜、农用薄膜、地面覆盖膜和服装、食品包装袋等。年产量由1980年68吨提高到1986年的1021吨。产品销往河北、河南、安徽、江苏及山东等省。1988年，产值1041.94万元，创税总额139.9万元。同年，全县有乡镇塑料业6处，年产值494万元，主要产品有塑料编织袋、食品包装袋、硬质塑料管等。
