    晚清，县衙军事机构为兵房。设经承（官职）2名。主管县内兵防、兵役及伤残年暮兵卒安置等事宜。
    民国初年沿旧制。1916年，于各区建保卫团；县设保卫团事务所，辖领保卫团操练、防卫、装备等。1928年10月，国民党公布训政纲领，撤销兵房，改由县长兼理本县武装。
