    1920年，嘉祥县公署劝业所管理林业。1923年劝业所改为三科（建设）。1926年三科改为实业局。1928年实业局改为建设局。1933年建设局改称第四科（建设）。1938年，日伪嘉祥县公署建设科管理林业。1946年1月，嘉祥县抗日民主政府建设科管理林业。1956年3月，建设科撤销，设立林业科。1958年6月撤销林业科，设立农林局。1963年12月撤销农林局，设立林业局。1970年2月，设立农林局革命领导小组。1971年8月改称农林组。1972年2月撤销农林组，恢复农林局。1973年1月撤销农林局，设立林牧局。1979年10月，撤销林牧局，设立林业局。1990年，林业局内设有办公室、林业站、林政站、果树站、种苗站、森保站、公安股；下设蚕丝站、疃里苗圃、湖滨苗圃、纸坊苗圃及18处乡（镇）林业站。林业系统共有干部职工118人。
