    1990年初，县矿管局主持了全县山石资源地质调查工作。历时近3个月，走遍了8处乡（镇）近百座山头，抽样和详细取样近1000个，整理了8万字的技术资料——《嘉祥县山石资源概况及初步评价》，对岩石的化学成分进行了科学分析：认为嘉祥县山石资源丰富，用途广泛。可分为水泥工业用灰岩，钢铁用大溶剂灰岩，轻质碳酸钙化工灰岩，生产电石、化肥原料用灰岩，饲料工业用灰岩和医药工业用灰岩以及白云岩、陶瓷页岩等种类。
