    70年代，境内西南部旱田区开始在粮田搞间作泡桐试验，密度为行距50米，株距10米，每公顷平均栽植19.5株。1984年，周堂、鱼城、陈楼、李阁、罗屯等乡(镇)大面积推广，当年粮桐间作面积发展到1787公顷，占宜粮桐间作面积的56%。此后，由于缺乏管理，病虫害损坏严重，加上采伐后不能及时栽种新苗，面积逐年减少，到1990年，粮桐间作面积仅有957.3公顷。
