    1953年8月建县后，水文机构陆续建立，对微山湖的水位变化进行了全面观测。
    1960年，二级坝建成后，上级湖允许最高水位36.50米，兴利水位34.20米，死水位33.00米；下级湖允许最高水位35.00米，兴利水位32.5米，死水位31.5米。
    1953～1990年最高水位36.48米，出现在1957年7月25日。最低水位出现在1989年9月，南阳、昭阳、独山湖全部干涸，仅剩微山湖41万亩水面。
