    1954年6月，县文化馆设图书室。此时，图书室仅有图书千余册，报刊20余种。1966年，红卫兵以破“四旧”为名，焚烧室藏文艺书籍500余册。1978年后，图书室又陆续购进图书。1980年藏书14594册，外借13216册次。1984年，藏书18218册，外借12889册次，有各种报纸杂志150余种。1985年，藏书18343册，外借4350册次。1986年，藏书18543册，外借5975册次。1987年，藏书18771册，外借4106册次。1988年，藏书18980册，外借15243册次。1989年，藏书19495册，外借30351册次。1990年，藏书20326册，外借32272册次。1978～1990年平均接待持证借书者18673人次。
