    任城区位于南四湖（南阳、昭阳、独山、微山）与北五湖（东平、马踏、南旺、蜀山、马场）之间，梁济运河贯穿南北，另有泗河、洙水河、蔡河、万福河等流经境内。河湖水系属淮河系，南四湖流域。境内共有大小河流26条，骨干排水沟10条，总长324.8公里。湖泊面积60平方公里。
