　　汉朝时的寿光县范围很小，仅包括今寿光县境北部的部分地区。当时县治所在，史无可靠记载，旧志说法不一。西汉在牟城，东汉在斟灌的说法较有根据。近代史志学界多倾向于此说。
　　今寿光县城为隋代所立，历史悠久。1400年来，沧桑多变，除动乱年代外，历朝县治多设在这里，是全县政治、经济、文化中心。
