　　清光绪三十四年（1908），全县总人口中，男性581217人，女性546079人，性比例为106.43（女＝100，下同）。民国二十一年（1932），全县总人口中，男410490人，女336513人，性比例为121.98。抗日战争和解放战争时期，男性人口相对减少。到1950年，男317767人，女323143人，性比例为98.34。此后，男性比例逐渐增高，1957年为103.66，1958～1982年间，性比例都在103.46～101.55以内。从1983年起，男性比例略有上升。1987年，男506731人，女484239人，性比例为104.64，性比例失调。
　　城区人口中男性多于女性。1953年，男，女分别占城区总人口的54.74％、45.26％。之后，女性比数略有提高。1987年，男、女分别占城区总人口的51.86％、48.14％。
