　　建国前，县城工商业落后，民众多以农业为生，非农业人口极少。建国后，随着工、商、文教、卫生等事业的发展，非农业人口逐渐增多。1956年全县非农业人口为11800人，占全县总人口的2.28％。1980年以来，职工家属转为非农业人口的人数增多，至1985年非农业人口达52859人，占全县总人口的8.26％。
