　　1931年春，国民党县政府在县城西护城河外租地9大亩，建立了县内第一个体育场：民众体育场。1978年，县人民政府于县府东北角征苇湾和菜地23.56亩，设置了两个灯光体育场。1983年冬，在县府后征地50自然亩，建立了农贸市场、人民广场、人民体育场。三场合一，体育场居西。1956年前，全县仅有11个栏架为蝇拍式的小型篮球场，至1985年，已有篮球场331个，其中中学149个，小学146个，工矿系统18个，其他系统13个，农村乡镇5个。排球场13个，棋类房1个，运动场14个，其中有300米跑道的田径场1个。
