　　虫灾历史上为害甚重。据旧县志记载自公元275年（晋咸宁元年）至清末，共发生虫灾71次。1358年（元至正十八年），“潍州蝗，食禾稼草木俱尽，所至蔽日，碍人马不能行，填沟堑皆盈，饥民捕蝗以为食，或曝干而积之以为食，又罄，则人相食”。建国初期，对沿海蝗虫采取飞机药治措施，消除了危害。对一般虫害，一经发现及时防治，保证了农作物增产。
