　　潍坊市于1973年成立科学技术办公室，设“三废”治理小组，始有环境保护机构。1975年3月成立市环境保护办公室，1980年11月改为市环境保护局，行使行政职能。下属环境保护监测站，为事业单位，有水体分析、大气分析、综合室等3个业务室。1984年地级市成立时，地、市两级环保机构合并为潍坊市城乡建设环境保护委员会。
　　1986年11月潍城区成立环境保护局。翌年5月，区环保监测站成立，为隶属环保局的事业单位。
