    县级以下行政区划自唐代始有记载。唐代县以下设乡、里；宋时乡下分里、
保、社；元朝乡下曰都、社；明朝设隅、乡、社；清因明制；民国时期一度推行
村、里制和试办自治会，后改为区、乡(镇)，下辖保、甲；中华人民共和国建立
后废除保、甲，改为区、乡(镇)、村。1958年建立人民公社，实行政社合一，社
下设生产大队、生产队。1984年恢复乡(镇)、村建制。
