    中华人民共和国成立以来，东关村村民生活水平不断提高，特别是改革开放以后，人均收入节节攀升。20世纪90年代，随着村办企业蓬勃发展，集体经济日益壮大，福利分房、安排就业、生活补贴等逐渐增多。村民养老保险由农村养老保险转变为职工养老保险，基本医疗保险全部由村委统一缴纳，村民养老保障水平大幅提高。同时，老龄工作有声有色，老年补贴按时发放、逐年增长，东关村老年人安享晚年。
