    民国时期和建国初期，县内体育工作由教育部门主管。1956年，成立蓬
莱县体育运动委员会。1961年6月，体育运动委员会与教育局合署办公，仍保
留体委名称。"文化大革命"开始后机构瘫痪。1971年11月，蓬莱县革命委员会
政治部设体育组。1 972年12月，撤销体育组，恢复体育运动委员会。1991年，
体育运动委员会有工作人员5人，辖蓬莱县少年业余体校、蓬莱体育场。
