    1948年，掖县人民政府实业科设一名干部负责水产业务。1950年5月，县政府始设水产科。1956年8月改为水产局。1967年4月，又改为掖县革命委员会水产局。1980年6月，恢复掖县水产局。1988年4月，改称莱州市水产局，内设办公室、政工股、企财股、渔政科，共有工作人员13人。
