    1951年1月，于城南村始建莱阳气象站，同年3月迁至道口村东八角庙处，属莱阳专署及莱阳县双重领导。1981年7月更名为莱阳气象局，隶属烟台市气象部门与莱阳县双重管理，担负地面观测、天气观测、航空天气观测、农业气象观测等数十个观测预报项目。
