    1951年4月，中国人民保险公司莱阳中心支公司成立，管辖莱阳地区所属各县代办处并兼理莱阳县保险业务。1958年，保险公司机构撤销。1981年1月，莱阳保险公司成立，附设于人民银行莱阳支行。1983年10月，保险公司从人民银行莱阳支行析出，内设人秘股，计财股、城险股和农险股。1985年有职工24人，1987年增至32人。
