    清代，莱阳邮政沿袭明代驿道递铺制。清末，成立邮政机构。1912年，废弃递铺，停用驿道。1933年，干线邮路由逐日昼夜兼程步班改为汽车邮路。抗日战争时期，莱东县和五龙县人民政府先后成立战时邮局。
    建国后，邮政网络逐步健全、通信能力进一步增强。1978年后，莱阳邮政单位推行各类人员工作岗位责任制，充分发挥邮政通信的社会效能，增强通信能力，提高经济效益，使邮政事业进入一个新的发展时期。
