    1954年始，乡镇(公社)定期召开人民代表大会，届次与县人民代表大会相同。乡镇(公社)人民代表大会的职权主要是听取、审议乡镇(公社)政府的工作报告；收集、处理代表所提议案、批评和建议；选举乡镇长(主任)、副乡镇长(副主任)。
　　1990年9月，龙口市20处乡镇设立人民代表大会主席团和办公室，办公室编制2-3人。
