    据建国后的资料记载，长岛地区春、夏、秋旱日趋严重。
    1953年春，小麦因干旱无雨，减产。
    1955年春旱，影响小麦返青和春播。
    1957年秋，近3个月未下雨。
    1974年夏旱，套种的玉米部分枯死。
    1975年夏旱，严重影响夏播。
    1977年春、秋，大旱。
    1978年春、秋，大旱，土壤含水量下降至10％左右。
    1980年，3-5月降雨仅80.6毫米，麦田土壤含水量仅有6一8％；7－9月份总降雨量为105.1毫米。
    1982年，旱情严重，全县8104亩小麦平均亩产39公斤。
