    境内民间文学创作历史久远，形式有民间歌谣、民间故事、神话传说、民间说唱、大鼓词等。1990年8月，县文化馆创作室孔庆廉主编出版《牟平民间文学集成》，辑录民间故事105篇，民间歌谣12首，民间谚语280条。龙泉镇教师周元新的《福地洞天的传说》，观水镇吕衣敏的《桃源洞的传说》均发表于报刊。
