    养马岛自开放以来，县内外一些单位前来洽谈在岛上兴建宾馆或休养所业务。至        1985年底，新华社、人民日报社、国家审计署、北京工艺美术学校、山东省政府、新汶矿务局、牟平县政府、牟平县新牟里村等单位投资2000多万元，在养马岛孙家疃建起宾馆、        休养所或培训基地，建筑面积共5.78万平方米。
