    1637年（明崇祯十年），知县周翼龙奉上檄，于城墙建炮台8座。1640年（崇祯十三年），登州镇陆左营滕绍宗于八角口建炮台。1723年（清雍正元年），知县罗万象奉令于八角口建炮台1座。1729年（雍正七年），官军又于八角建炮台。
