    在地质构造上，垦利县位于济阳坳陷东部；自北向南，纵跨孤岛凸起、
沾化凹陷、陈家庄凸起和东营凹陷各次级构造之东部或北部。济阳坳陷从中
生代以后，在燕山运动和喜山运动的影响下，发生强烈的断块运动，始与南
邻鲁西隆起脱节、分化，逐步形成以坳为主，坳中有隆的坳陷区，并接受了
巨厚的中、新生代沉积。
