    建区前，境内外贸业务分属于沾化、利津两县。建区初期由利津县代管。1987年
河口区对外贸易公司成立，为区属全民所有制企业。下设工艺科、食品科、财务科、
办公室。有职工15人。公司成立后一直未被列入山东省外贸系统计划单位。因外贸公
司连年亏损，区政府于1994年4月决定对河口区外贸公司实施依法破产。
    1999年，成立河口区外经委，行使对外贸易行政管理职能，不再设直属外贸企业
。
