    境内居民有汉、回两族。汉族居民主要为本地祖籍、历代移民迁入、军屯改民屯籍入、渔民定居，以及正常的转入等。回族居民先后于明、清时由青海、甘肃、天津、济宁等地迁入。清末，回族居民共1755人，1953年达1903人，到1985年，回族居民为2315人，占全区总人口的1%，分布在全区7个乡镇，主要集中在台儿庄和涧头集。
