    为适应现代化建议发展需要，索镇配合县有关部门进行旧城改造。1989年，镇投
资57万元开拓了朱索公路索镇段；投资26万元硬化了城区路面，创建卫生城。1991年，
配合县城东环路建设， 投资7万元拆迁障碍物。1991年，花园村的板纸厂投资40余万
元，治理了废水污染。
