    索镇位于桓台县东南境，东界临淄区，西靠唐山镇，南邻侯庄乡，北接耿桥乡。
地形东高西低，广长袤窄，面积38．4平方公里，占全县总面积的7．54％，辖26个行
政村。解放战争时期曾是渤海区清河专署驻地，今为县、镇两级党、政机关驻地，是
桓台县政治、经济、文化中心。
