    临淄民众信奉佛教始于东汉，盛行于南北朝、隋、唐，唐代名僧善导即临淄
人。沿续至明清，寺庙遗迹众多，但多已圮废。今仅存有汉代康山寺和北魏金陵
寺、西天寺、施福寺、石佛堂及明代兴福寺等寺庙的石佛。自民国时期以来，佛
教活动逐渐绝迹，但其影响至今仍存。
