    清朝县官称知县，由朝廷吏部任命。经朝考任职的谓正途；经捐纳、保举的
谓异途。 清朝临淄县署历经79任知县，其中进士14人，举人31人，贡、监生各7
人，学衔不清的20人。知县下设县丞、教谕、训导、主簿、巡检、典史、把总、
外委各1人。 知县为正七品；县丞、教谕、训导为正八品；主簿为正九品；其余
未入流。县署各房配有衙役(亦称吏员)数人，按其所分担的事务称门子、皂隶、
仵作、马快、民壮、狱卒、轿伞夫、库子、斗级、递铺、司兵等。
