    胶县的游泳活动，只是在沽河两岸和靠近水库的群众自发开展，没有正式比赛。1985年，胶州体育场建起了游泳池，有组织的游泳活动逐渐开展起来。
    1986年，胶县承办了山东省第十三届运动会的游泳比赛。
    1987年，胶州市又承办了全国首届农民游泳比赛。
