    西河遗址位于龙山镇龙三村西巨野河东岸，山东省重点文物保护单位，为
配合济青公路拓宽工程，经国家文物局批准，于8月至10月进行了抢救性发掘，
历时三个月，发掘面积近1000平方米，出土文物千余件，发现了新石器时代早
期房址十余座， 对研究我国9000年左右的聚落形态， 提供了极其珍贵的实物
资料，对“西河文化”的命名提供了佐证，被评为1997年度全国十大考古新发
现。
