    1996年以来，全市确定了以建设畜牧小区为特色的强市富民之路。1997年
1月， 《农民日报》在头版头条以较大篇幅并加编者按刊登章丘小区饲养、规
模经营、推进产业化进程的经验和做法，在全国引起较大反响。由于政策扶持、
服务到位， 小区建设得到快速发展，至2000年末，全市各类畜牧小区达到380
处，规模饲养量占到全市畜禽存养总量的70％。
