    章丘素有经商传统。1949年，章丘、章历两县商业网点为2232处，社会商品零售
额2062万元。1957年至1976年，商业体制僵化，商品经济发展受到严重束缚。1985年，
全县商业网点 1.15万个， 从业3.04万人，社会商品零售额2.72亿元。1995年，五厦
一城建成。2002年，政府早餐工程启动。至2002年底，全市社会商品零售额47亿元；
各类市场154处、 集贸市场120处，各类市场总面积390万平方米；市场年交易额46.6
亿元，比1985年增长71.69倍。
