    境内矿产资源得天独厚，是全国首批重点产煤县（市）之一。矿井数量占全省煤
矿井总数的近六分之一，已成为章丘经济发展的重要支柱产业。1997～2002年，连续
5年实现利税均占全市工业利税的40％。 至2002年底，全市共有合法矿山60处；其中
乡镇56处，国有4处（不含埠村煤矿）。生产能力300万吨/年，累计探明储量1.4亿吨，
动用储量3038.38万吨，采出量2608.86万吨，保有储量8829.82万吨。
