    殷商时， 境内即有驿道、驿站。平陵城即设有龙山驿。清末，有8条大道，驿站
改称铺，有韩家铺(今刁镇韩家庄)、炭张铺(今刁镇炭张)、温家铺(今枣园镇温家村)、
二十里铺(今党家乡二十里堡)、旧军铺(今刁镇旧军)、柳塘口铺(今辛寨乡柳塘口)。
旧章丘城有总铺1座，内设中马、下马、车夫铺司、兵夫等差役。
    1932年(民国21年) ，主要大道有3条：章淄路，由旧章丘城经相公庄、普集、王
村讫于淄川，长55公里；城明路，由旧章丘城起至明水镇止，长12.5公里；城埠路，
由旧章丘城起经枣园讫于埠村，长25公里。
